Abstract :
Hirschsprung’s disease is a congenital aganglionosis of the submucosal (Meissner) and myenteric (Auerbach) neural plexuses principally affecting the rectosigmoid or rectal segments of varying length. Most cases become manifest during the neonatal period, but in rare instances, the disease is initially diagnosed in adult patients. The diagnosis of adult Hirschsprung’s disease should be suspected in patients with a history of chronic constipation and appropriate radiologic findings.
