The Appraisal of Konya Vicinity in Terms of Address-Based Population Census of 2007 and Growth Population in Konya

The vicinity of Konya is located in 36° 22’-39° 08’ north latitudes and 31° 14’-34° 27’ east meridians of Central Anatolia Region. Konya has the largest acreage in Turkey with its 38.873 km² area. There is 1.959.055 population according to population census of 2007 in Konya vicinity. With that amount of population, Konya is the 6th biggest vicinity of Turkey. The population inhabits with the percents as %72 in city (967.055) and in county town (445.288), %28 in rural area (546.739). The population of Konya quadrupled in last 80 years and increased to 1.959.082 which was 504.125 in 1927. The population of Konya increased more than fivefold betwixt these years. In augmentation in population, while the rates of population gradually increased in the cities, the rates of population in rural areas gradually decreased.In this study, the appraisal of consequences of address-based population census of 2007 in Konya and the historical growth of population are tried to be analyzed.
