مرکز منطقه ای اطلاع رساني علوم و فناوري - Views of Primary School Teacher Candidates on Psychological Consultancy and Guiding Services Provided by the Universities (Samples of Mersin Province)

Abstract :

As was in teaching institutes in each stage, university students also need psychological consultancy services in various issues. The objective of psychological consultancy centers taking place in universities is to give psychological consultancy and guiding service towards the individual, social, educational, and professional areas for the students enrolled in universities. In addition, in universities, consultant lecturers are assigned for each class. In this study, introducing the views and suggestions of the primary school teacher candidates studying in Mersin University on psychological consultancy and guiding services being given in the university is aimed. As a study group, the students of main scientific branch of primary school teaching studying in the Educational Faculty of Mersin University. 190 students were included in the study. The data were collected in the fallsemester of the educational year 2010-2011. In collecting data, an open ended questionnaire was used. It was concluded that the joining and recognizing level of the candidates for primary school teaching on psychological consultancy and guiding services being given in the university was insufficient. It was suggested that PCGC (PDRM) should be performed more effective and given in-service training for consultants (counselors).
