Abstract :
In this study, whether there is a significant difference between the interaction anxiety and social support perceptions of the faculty of education students according to their aims of using social networks and whether there is a meaningful difference between their social support perceptions and interaction anxiety according to their duration of active memberships to these networks and in accordance with their state of romantic relationships were investigated. Participants in the study were 280 students, who were studying at different levels in the Faculty of Education in Mehmet Akif Ersoy University. 173 of the students (61%) participating in the study were females and 107 of them (39%) were male. The data were obtained through Multi-dimensionally Perceived Social Support Scale and Interaction Anxiety Scale. In consequence of the study, it’s observed that the interaction anxiety and the perceived social support of the students using the social networks to meet with their friends are higher than those who are not using social networks to that end, and the perceived social support levels of the students who have romantic relations are high but their interaction anxiety are low. As for the duration of active memberships to these networks, the interaction anxiety of the students who are members of these networks for a year or two are significantly higher than those who are member of these networks for 3 years more.
