Abstract :
The aim of this study is to examine the relation between the situation of crime and criminality and, the family structure of the children who live and work in the streets. I tried to draw attention on reasons of propensity for violence which is seen on children who live and work in the streets and known as under risk. Because of various socioeconomic and social reasons, Mersin had an extreme migration in the last thirty years. As a result of this, it has become inevitable to have economic, cultural and social problems. The family emerges as the most affected social structure. The rapid social upheavals and transformations also change the living conditions of the families. As well as the families, especially, the children are inevitably affected of these changes. The research has done with 510 children who live/study in the vicinities of immigrants and, generally work in the streets, by face to face interviews and questionnaire. According to the results of the research, family, with the other factors, has an important place in a child’s tendency to commit a crime. The family’s structure, education degree and, economic situation is effective on a child’s tendency to commit a crime.
