Abstract :
With image processing techniques the improved or different images can be obtained and pattern recognition processes can be done using digital images. These operations begin from capturing the image and continue using the different techniques. Image processing which includes wide area is an important subject of computer science. Moreover, it is one of the significant working areas of reverse engineering. In this paper, the information regarding three different systems which have been developed to obtain 3D point clouds for digital images is given. The algorithm of the system in which point clouds can be obtained using image processing techniques is explained and samples are introduced. 3D point clouds can be obtained from the digital camera or hand held camcorder images which are different shapes with the system which solved the problem. These point clouds can easily be converted into three dimensional solid or surface model in a Computer Aided Design (CAD) program. The system and the other systems are compared and advantages of the system are specified.
