Abstract :
Collapse of buildings in earthquakes may be caused by the quality of buildings, and dynamic-static properties of soils or structures deep underground. The determination of concrete strength for the quality of buildings is an important step. The quality of concrete can be determined with uniaxial compression strength test in laboratory on the concrete cores taken from building. In this case, the column or beam taken from core undergoes destruction. Non-destructive testing method of Geophysical methods to measure Ultrasonic P and S can be placed in concrete quality. Ultrasonic method not only concrete strength, but also dynamic elastic parameters, and Poisson ratio can be determined. In this study, P and S wave velocities were measured on the concrete of cylinders and cubes. Between P and S wave velocities and this strength determined with the unconfined compressive strength of cores, have been developed in the experimental relations. The empirical-relationship, developed in this study, and literature relationships have been compared. As a result, determination nondestructive and in-situ of the concrete-strength in building is useful in terms of both economy and time
