Abstract :
Nowadays, the increase in quality of life and the development of industry in many countries have led to an increase in energy demand in the world. Due to these reasons, interest in renewable energy sources, especially solar energy, is increasing day by day. Solar energy is an attractive source of energy used to energize off-grid systems. In developing countries, it is used in many applications such as water pumping especially in rural areas where there is no access to the grid. The energy obtained from photovoltaic (PV) systems is decreasing under changing environmental conditions. Therefore, maximum power point tracking (MPPT) to obtain maximum energy from the PV system is carried out. In this study, implementation of PV based water pumping system was carried out. MPPT was used to increase the efficiency obtained from the system. Perturb Observe (P O) algorithm was used to track maximum power point. Implementation of the MPPT algorithm in the system was provided by the TMS320F2812 DSP processor. Direct current (DA) water pumping motor was used because the energy obtained from the PV system is DA and the water pump motor is directly connected to the PV system. The applications were performed with and without using the MPPT algorithm in the system and the power values obtained from both cases were compared. It has been observed that the efficiency of PV system with MPPT algorithm is better than without MPPT.
