SCADA BASED SIGNALING SYSTEM FOR IN RAILWAY SYSTEMS
Abstract :
Nowadays traffic is growing with increasing population with which air pollution and energy consumption are increasing. Railed transportation that is encountered in the crowded cities allows the transportation of more people at the same time without causing traffic congestion. Railway transportation has gained much speed thanks to the technologies used. Due to the increased number of trains and railway route, a good signaling system is necessary to ensure safe transport. Tramway, subway, light metro and funicular lines which are used as rail transportation in our country use signaling systems to meet high passenger demand. In this work, we discuss how to construct a signaling system with a Programmable Logic Controller (PLC). Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) software used in monitoring such systems has been developed and implemented in a realtime system. This system, which is developed in small scale, will contribute as an example of signaling which can be improved in railway transportation.
