Abstract :
The use of textile surfaces in modern medicine practices requires them to possess the expected properties in accordance with usefulness and comfort. They should be intoxicant, hypoallergenic, and not carcinogenic; have acceptable textural purity and show minimum change in chemical and physical characteristics when sterilized. Their antibacterial properties also must be improved in order to destroy microorganisms and bacteria which threaten hospital workers’ health. In the first section of the study, antibacterial activity, antibacterial property acquisition methods, international antibacterial testing standards and measurement of antibacterial performance are explained. In the second section antibacterial properties of the selected woven fabrics are determined according to standard testing methods. Perfect activity was obtained with all samples after a touch with S. auerous for 24 hours. After a touch with E. coli, with samples # 2 and 6, Perfect Result, with samples # 1, 3, 4 and 5, Good Result was obtained. After a transaction with C. albicans with all samples Perfect Result was obtained while no activity took place with samples after a transaction with P. aeroginasa.
