Abstract :
In this study, the production cross sections of 94,99,99mTc and 131I radionuclides used in imaging and treatment of thyroid cancer metastasis have been investigated. The calculations for 94Mo(p,n) 94Tc 100Mo(p,2n)99Tc, 98Mo(d,n)99mTc, 99Ru(n,p)99mTc and 131Xe(n,p)131I reactions have been carried out up to 50 MeV incident particle energies by using the equilibrium and pre-equilibrium nuclear reaction models. Full Exciton Model, Hybrid Model, Geometry Dependent Hybrid Model, Cascade Exciton Model for the pre-equilibrium reactions and Weisskopf–Ewing Model for the equilibrium reactions have been used. Also, the optimum energy ranges and average cross sections in these energies for 94,99,99mTc and 131I production have been determined.
