Abstract :
The purpose of the study is to evaluate the effect of strategies designed for improving students’ creative writing skills on the sixth grade students’ writing dispositions and skills. In the study, the experimental research model with the “Pre Test – Post Test Control Group” was used. The 6th grade students who were studying at Remzi Oguz Arık Elementary School in Adana participated to the study. The strategies stated by Smith (2005) were put into practice. “Evaluate Writing Activities Based on Creative Writing Processes Scale” developed by Maltepe (2006) and “Writing Dispositions Scale” developed by İşeri and Ünal (2010) were used as data collection tools. The findings show that creative writing strategies are more effective than traditional methods for the evaluation levels of written explanation periods of students from a creative writing approach perspective. However, no positive effect was from a writing dispositions perspective.
