Quality in Arts Education: the Realization Levels of Curriculum Standards according to Faculty Member’s View
Abstract :
The aim of this research is to analyze the views of faculty members related to the realization levels of predetermined standards based on the Philosophy, Purpose and Content of an Education Program and the Teaching and Learning Strategies in an Education Program in a higher education institution’s visual arts educator training programs. The Screening Model was used for the research and the participants of the study were 190 academicians, who work at art education departments in twelve different Faculties of Education. To collect the data, the Quality Standard Survey was adapted to the visual art education area. The analyses were carried out by calculating the frequencies and percentages, mean, and standard deviation. The Kruskal Wallis H-Test was used to understand whether there are any statistically significant differences among academicians’ opinions. The results showed that the Philosophy, Purpose and Content of Education Program were partially realized, while the Teaching and Learning Strategies in Education Program were highly realized. However, there weren’t any statistically significant differences among academicians’ opinions based on their their academic titles, and whether there was a graduate program in the institution they were working.
