A Research On Graduate Thesıs On Data Mining In Turkey

In recent years, individuals and organizations are trying to solve varied problems which have different structures and purposes by using data mining tools and techniques. For this reason, data mining is a subject that attracts researchers attention in the academic field. Scientific and technological innovations can be observed in post graduate theses. Therefore, the contents of the thesis are important in this regard. The aim of this research is to examine the graduate and doctoral dissertations which can be reached with the keyword; data mining that made at the universities in Turkey from different angles. In the study, 116 post graduate theses were identified with the query of data mining in the field of social sciences. 22 of these theses were not included in the research. Type of the theses (masters / doctorate), languages, universities and branches where the theses were made, implementation areas are examined for 94 theses that reviewable. Besides, if there is an application in theses than it is examined which data mining algorithms and software were used to conduct the application. In addition to this, the theses have been studied in terms of the changes in the field and application areas according to the years.
