Abstract :
Civilization and its critique has been one of the most controversial and difficult themes in social sciences for many years. Both the concept of civilization and the ways of its critique have been examined with different approaches. From this viewpoint, this study seeks to reimagine the critique of civilization in the context of ecological thought. Using a descriptive method, the study focuses on three major questions: What makes the critique of civilization a constitutive element of ecological thought? What kind of conceptual framework can one see when taking a glance at the ecological thought linked to different major political ideologies to trace the central position of the critique of civilization within ecological thought? Finally, what kind of problems and questions does the critique of civilization provoke in terms of theological frontiers within ecological thought? Accordingly, based on the assumption that the critique of civilization occupies a central stage in ecological thought, this study argues that the critique of civilization is not only a constitutive aspect of ecological thought but also a conceptual medium that emphasizes the theoretical frontiers and limitations of ecological thought in general.
