Abstract :
Disposal problem of solid waste has qualitative and quantitative criteria. For this reason, Analytic Network Process (ANP), being a multi criteria decision making method, was used in evaluation of alternatives. In the study, decision makers, being experts of the subject, were interviewed to evaluate the solid waste problem of the city of Trabzon and it was tried to determine the most appropriate disposal alternative. Thus, it lights the way for the next studies in entire country by using ANP model in a real environment. The criteria, determined for this reason, were classified into 5 groups: financial, environmental feasibility, personnel management, public perception and technology. Besides, a network model was developed by determining the relationships among criteria. Consequently, “landfilling, composting and incineration” alternative was found as the most appropriate disposal option.
