Abstract :
Boards of trade have the position of being the fundamental structures, in which the prices of the primarily vital goods – firstly, the agricultural products – that are essential for the maintenance of social life are determined, are the mostly widespread/ concrete examples of the “market” concept in daily life, which can be defined as the every sort of environment that enables making the economic decisions by the method of meeting the customers and dealers of goods, services and factors of production. The elimination of the factors hindering the validity of the perfect competition conditions to dominate on agricultural product markets and enabling the mechanisms that allows the aforementioned to be functional is closely engaged with effective institutionalization of boards of trades within these principles, and the optimization of the societies’ production possibilities and the effective usage of sources will only be able to be realized be means of these efforts. The exposition of the definition, functions and the location of the boards of trade in the economics literature and examination of their improvement processes in Turkey and the world may reveal positive results from the point of view of the lighting the way for the efforts of reorganizing/ rehabilitating the agricultural sector of our country, which gained acceleration parallel to the global increase in the prices of agricultural products, developing proposals of solutions within the context of regional development problems and generating new goals/ productions.
