Abstract :
The aim of this study is to investigate whether there is a convergence on legal (macro) and actual (micro) levels of corporate governance practices within the national business systems. For this purpose, countries that are classified according to Whitley’s (1999) national business systems are subjected to hierarchical clustering analysis using the data on perceived quality of corporate governance practices that are obtained from The World Economic Forum’s Global Competitiveness Report (2004). As a result of analysis, while a convergence is found among countries with similar business systems, a partial convergence and divergence is found between countries with diffrent business systems.
