Abstract :
In a corresponding manner with the increased severity of SME’s on Turkish economy, contribution of SME’s to the socio-economic development of Turkey is also gradually increasing. SMEs had become an important customer segment for the Turkish banking industry. Most of the banks are attempting to offer enterprise banking applications in conjunction with the understanding that being only the finance agent is not enough to increase the share of SME’s for their customer portfolio. One of the tools recently offered by banks in addition to standard banking services to differentiate themselves in competition is SME information portals. In this study, emphasizing the importance of SME information portals in gaining competitive advantage and differentiation is aimed. Besides, determining the information content of an ideal SME information portal and signifying the role of SME information portals on SME’s bank preferences are also aimed. Results of the study indicated that the bank preferences of SME’s are related with non-business issues, trade fair information and investment decisions which take part in information portals.
