Adult educator competences in lifelong learning in the EU membership process of Turkey
Abstract :
In order to harmonize with the globalization process experienced since the 1990s, Europe, who entered into economical and social integration, adopted the main target of ‘Making the EU the most dynamic knowledge-based economy all over the world till the year of 2020’ through the Maastricht Treaty 1992 and the Lisbon Strategy 2000 and gave its weight to ‘education’ in achieving its goal. After this phase, lifelong learning process was launched, which embraces all levels of training and education and following the Bologna Process 1999 and the Copenhagen Process 2002, ‘The European Qualifications Framework for Lifelong Learning’ was put into practice in April 2008. With this study, the increasing importance of adult education, which is a significant component of lifelong learning and accordingly professional competencies of adult educators who will provide service in this field during the aforementioned process, is being focused on. Within the scope of the study, various studies on determination of European Level of competency and Qualifications have also been performed to provide an international equivalence of vocation, thus, it has been aimed to provide a kind of foresight for similar potential studies in our country.
