Abstract :
The purpose of our study is to evaluate the geographic skills and concepts that students develop in pre school. The scope of the study is limited to the data collected in the 2016-2017 academic year The study subjects consisted of children in the 36-72 month group. A total of 101 pre-school teachers working in 19 schools in the provinces of Altıeylül and Karesi in Balıkesir participated in the survey study on the research topic. A literature search was conducted for the research topic. In this scope, written essays composed of theses previously done, articles published in scientific journals, books, reports about various seminars and symposiums related to research topic were examined. Questionnaire studies were conducted on the questions indicated in the research problem. After the obtained data were entered into the SSPS 17 program, analysis work was carried out and the findings were presented in tables. In the findings, when the answers given about the region are examined, it is the ocean that the participants consider the most appropriate. The diversity of the habitat in the oceans is always thought to attract children’s attention. The most preferred concept among participants in the area of human geography learning is environmental pollution while the least preferred is the concept of population. This may be the main reason why the population is more scientific than environmental pollution. Further research on this subject can be carried out.
