Abstract :
The essence of Cooperative Learning is synergy and there are many cooperative learning techniques based on synergy and which are different from others in some ways. The main difference of Effective Cooperation Technique (ECT) which is a new technique, from the other techniques is that it relies on helping based certain systematics and that it generates a chain of cooperation starting from those who know more to those who know less by accepting that the teacher is also a member of each group during teaching. The aim of this case study is to present reflections from a 5th Grade Mathematics Class in which ECT was used. Thus, the similarity between the learning environment using ECT and cooperative learning environments will be investigated. During the study, the class was observed, a diary was kept by the teacher, and focal group interviews were made with the students after the application. The data were analyzed with the Descriptive Analysis Method. Upon the analysis, it was determined that the students gained both academic and social acquisitions, and feedbacks and corrections were provided for all students. In addition, it was also determined that the motivation of the students, who received help, feedback and correction, increased; and the learning of the students, who received correction for a mistake and whose missing points were eliminated, was not interrupted, and they continued to learn in a more enthusiastic manner. As a general result of the research, it was found that the similarity between the learning environment using ECT and cooperative learning environments were quite high.
