Abstract :
The aim of this study is to investigate the mediating role of need satisfaction in the relationship between attachment styles and life satisfaction. For this purpose, data were collected from a total of 329 university students, 132 male and 187 female, aged 18-24, who were studying at Marmara University Atatürk Education Faculty. Attachment Styles Scale, Satisfaction with Life Scale and Need Satisfaction Scale were used as data collection tools. The results of the path analysis showed that life satisfaction of participants was significantly predicted by both attachment styles and satisfaction of basic psychological needs. The mediation effect of the relationship between attachment styles and life satisfaction was found to be a partial mediator effect only for secure and preoccupied attachment styles. The findings of the research were discussed in the light of the literature and some suggestions were made for future research.
