Abstract :
Family is defined as the smallest social community, basically living under the same roof, sharing the same economic conditions and culture also united by ties of kind ship. It has an important role to transfer the cultural values of society from one generation to another. Family s basic function is to meet the needs of individual s psychological development and psychological requirements. Turkish societies have given special attention to the family institution throughout the history. It’s seen that, like other societies, socializing responsibilities of family is mainly given to the mother in our society. When examined in terms of social change, it’s discovered that, Traditional Turkish family has started to change because of various reasons. Healthy individuals, raised in a healthy family environment, are needed for healthy society. For Family-centered care philosophy, the family is the permanent element of the child’s life. The child support which is provided by family is the major factor for determining the child’s reactions against health problems and nursing care. This review was investigated the changing role of women in Turkish society and the effects of mother on child’s health were discussed with dimensions of family-centered care.
