Abstract :
Introduction: Research reports on nurses, why leave the profession of nursing has shown that the primary cause of the issue is nurses’ autonomy and authority of their own areas of clinical practice that restricting the working conditions. Therefore, the key institutions and the new regulations in the last 50-60 years, develop a culture of the workspace, solve the problem of nurse shortage and improve the quality of patient care as a long-term strategy, encourage the participation of clinical nurses in decision-making. Objective: The study aimed to measure how much nurses have been participated and how much they want to join in decision-making process. Materials and Methods: Nurses participation in decision-making process is planned to investigate the population of study, 600 nurses, working in an education and research hospital. In the research, the sample choice has not been applied, the sample consisted of nurses who agreed to participate in research (N=171). The research data were collected by questionnaire, consisting of 2 parts. In the first section, socio-demographic characteristics and the working life of nurses related their views regarding decision-making are 9 questions. In the second section, The Decisional Involvement Scale (DIS) developed by Donna Sullivan Havens ve Joseph Vasey (2003) consists of 21 items. Results and Conclusion: The mean of nurses age is 33.36 ± 5.80 in the study. The findings of the study evaluated; the action of the decision mostly carried out by management is understood. As a result, administrators should ensure nurses’ inclusion more effectively in decision-making process.
