Abstract :
Nursing profession is a profession which requires gaining cognitive behavior as well aspsychomotor and attitudinal behaviors. So, it is necessitated to use innovative practices ineducation. One of the most effective teaching methods which gains cognitive and psychomotorbehaviors to students is interactive method which contributes students to participate in learningprocess actively. Simulation which takes part in these methods is used actively to improve cognitive as well as psychomotor and attitudinal knowledge and skills of students by providing real learningenvironment to students for experiencing real life situations. It is aimed to improve student s skills and attitudes by creating the closest real situation withusage of simulation in nursing education. Simulation used in nursing education includes role playswith simulators (with real or simulated patients), computer based simulation, simulation software, video, DVD or creation of virtual reality, computer controlled simulators and interactive patientsimulators. In this article is aimed to explain benefits and levels of simulation where students participateactively in learning process, students critical thinking and problem solving process is supported, which foresees meaning and reconstruction of student s own knowledge with new experiences bygiving samples.
