Oral health is described as functional viability of mouth, teeth, and their associated structures. Deterioration in oral health and related diseases ore a major health problem in the world. General health situation is adversely affected by poor oral health. Poor oral health, mouth and gum diseases can cause disease especially in many organs, including heart and kidney. Oral care is fundamental nursing activity that effects the convenience, comfort and wei/ness of patient. Nurse the right to make oral core applications depends on knowledge and skill of oral health assesment, using the appopriate assesment tools, effective use of oral care protocols. The responsibility of giving more qualified care nursing requires decisions based on the evidence. It is stated that oral assesment and oral care using evidence-based effective implementation strategies improves the oral health. The article states the responsibilities of nurse related with oral health care. They consist of like oral health-threatening conditions, risk groups, assessment of oral health. In addition, the guidelines by developed by various associations in this area is ranked.
