Abstract :

Objective: The objective of this project is to specify the problems of children who are followed for the diagnosis of type 1 diabetes.Methods: The working is a descriptive method and 152 type 7 diabetic children are incorporated. Data was gathered with the diabetes control in school question form which has been developed by a researcher following the instruction of literature and experts. Data gathering was carried out by face to face meeting. It is tried to obtain the data of the problems that they five through at diabetes control at school. The obtained data was evaluated with numbers and percentage distribution.Results: The diagnosis ages of children who had been included in the investigation were 6-9, and children who had been diabetes for 7-2 years were predominantly more. 86, 8% of the children didn t have any health service and, 90.8% of the children didn t have school nursing services at their schools. 54.6 %of theparents were coming to schools for following their general health status and, supplying foods which appropriate to their children s diet. Despite 96.7 % of them spend more than 6 hours at school, 40.8% of students stated that they don t have lunch during this time period.61.2 % of the children expressed that they want to be provided a special area for injecting insulin, checking blood glucose and to eat snacks. And also they want medical staff to be present at school.Conclusion: Research findings suggest that students with diabetes have some difficulties about diabetic self care at schools and they need health care surveillance.
