Abstract :
Objective: This study was carried out as quasi experimental with pretest-posttest design toevaluate impact of health promotion course on health promotion behaviours of nursing students.Material and Methods: It was conducted on enrolled nursing students in the first grade who took part in health promotion course between February and May 2014. In study, it was recruited all of class (43 student) without sampling method but was included that forty student who had fully filled the socio-demographic questionnaire and Healthy Life Style Behaviour Scale II during pretest- posttest. The data was collected using students socio-demographic characteristics form, questions related to some medical characteristics and Healthy Life Style Behaviour Scale II. Healthy Life Style Behaviour Scale II and questions related to some medical characteristics was administered two times in pretest-posttest at the beginning and end of a health promotion course.Results: In pretest-posttest comparisons; the students Healthy Life Style Behaviour Scale II subscale and total scale score of before and after health promotion course were significant differences in physical activity pretest (16.8±5.2)-posttest (18.2±4.6) scores (t= -2.143, p=0.038), was found out increasing total score of the scale (t= -1.577, p=0.123) and the subscale score of health responsibility (t=-1.977, p=0.055), stress management (t= -1.513, p=0.138), nutrition (t= -0.762, p=0.450) and decreasing subscale score of spirituality development (t= 0.939, p=0.354) and interpersonal relationships (t= 0.052, p=0.959).Conclusions: At the end of course, it was provided change in the subscale of physical activity of scale, was found out increasing total score of the scale and the subscale score of health responsibility, stress management, nutrition and decreasing subscale score of spirituality development and interpersonal relationships. It is limited the effects of theoretic course to promote health on nursing students. Nurse educators and researchers can be implemented different interventions using interactive methods.
