A STUDY OF THE MOBBING EXPERIENCED BY ACADEMICIANS
Abstract :
Objective: To analyse the mobbing of the academicians at the university and its relation tomany variables.Methods: The macrocosm of the research involves 400 academicians working at a stateuniversity in 2012-2013 academic year whereas the microcosm includes 7 35academicianshavingconsented to take part in the study. 55 questions of the likert scale are asked to the academiciansworking at the university and having consented to participate in the research to present theirdeterminative qualities and to prove if they have had experiences of psychological violence at theuniversity between November 1,2012 and January 1,2013.Results:5.9 % of the staff is below 25 years of age, 65.2% is men and 69.6% is married. 33.3%of the academicians are assistant professors, 26.7% work at Vocational School, 1.5 % is atVocational School of Tourism and Hotel Management, 25.2% is at Faculty of Education, work atFaculty of Fisheries. The point of violation in women academicians (x=l7,890) is higher than thepoint of the violation (x=15,890) and it results as (p=0,037 0,05). The point of social relationshipsof single women (x=6,290) is lower than the point of married university staff (x=7,980) and thedifference is quite significant in terms of statistics (p 0,05). The average points in the subcategoriesof communication, health and sexual violation related to the staff that took part in the study haveno big difference compared to the academic titles (p 0.05).Conclusion: It is specified that the level of mobbing has remarkable effects on the threedimensions of exhaustion (violence, social relationships and health).
