Abstract :
Some special usages of the French language were left out-of-study by grammarians from the Classical Method perspective who would use the parts of speech of the Latin language for their descriptions. However, the General Linguistics movement and today s Communicative Approach have been successful in filling the gap in the Classical Method s studies. Here, we try to demonstrate that contemporary grammar studies take into account the fact that the role of noun qualification usually attributed to adjectives by traditional French grammar books can as well be attributed to nouns and adverbs. Drawing on the Communicative Approach, we have reached to two findings: first, a semantic grammar that treats language forms by considering the meaning these give to language, can indeed be flawless. Second, accurately distinguishing variable adjectives from invariable quasi-adjectives can prevent learners from making mistakes
