Flaubert and Stendhal we show in their works the discovery of the realities of the life. Sentimental Education and The Red and Black are the novels of a reality. Flaubert in Sentimental Education summarizes the years of turmoil between 1840 and 1851, and the concern of the rebellion of February from June through December which came into existence with the aim of removing the monarchy. The writer reflects the generation of that time in this book. The hero of the novel, Frederic Moreau, like Stendhal’s Julien, is a passionate young man with the desire of advancing in the society. In both of the works, the writers reflect these heroes’s trial of gaining a good place in the society.
