Abstract :
Verbal nouns were the principal focus of this study. Having first determined how such verbal nouns are formed, the French equivalents of Turkish verbal nouns were given as comparative examples. As a result of this comparison, it was observed that, as is the case with the formation of verbal nouns from Turkish verbs, in French too this is achieved by adding various suffixes. Even though the formation of verbal nouns is achieved with the aid of suffixes in both Turkish and French, it was also observed that, whereas in Turkish in general the suffixes –me or –iş were used to produce a verbal noun, in French alongside various suffixes past tense conjugations were also used as verbal nouns.
