Abstract :
Thyroid diseases are the most common endocrine disorders in our country and around the world. The enlargement of the thyroid gland is defined as goiter. The incidence of goiter is 30 % in our country. In some regions, it becomes 50%. Thyroid nodules are detected by ultrasonography in 50 - 60% of the population. Every 2 or 3 people in our country have thyroid disease at any time in their whole life and the frequency of the disease increases with age. Thyroid disease is 8 to 10 times more common in women.
