Diseases associated with the results of atherosclerotic process are common causes of morbidity and mortality. Coronary artery disease, cerebrovascular disease, peripheral artery disease and aortic aneurysm are among the conditions known as cardiovascular diseases. It is possible to stop progression or prevent these diseases by elimination or modification of modifiable risk factors in the light of treatment goals. Before the fight against known risk factors in individuals without cardiovascular disease first, the total risk level of individual should be determined and then solely life style changes or additional medical treatment should be planned. In people who have suffered a cardiovascular event; risk factor modifications as well as the routine use of some drugs may be required.
