Abstract :
Lyme disease is one of the most common zoonotic diseases caused by spirochetes in Northern Hemisphere and can involve multiple systems. Although, in Northern America, the causative agent of the disease is always Borrelia burgdorferi, in other parts of the northern hemisphere different Borrelia species may lead to the developement of the disease. Like all other spirochetal diseases, the clinical course of Lyme disease has different stages. Lyme disease, which usually responds well to treatment with oral doxycycline, has an increasing incidence in recent years and is becoming a common disease that can be seen in Turkey.
