REPRESENTATION OF WOMANHOOD AFFAIRS IN THE PUBLEC SPHERE
Abstract :
The actions that help break the male-dominated manner in art have influenced women’s stepping out in public area since 1960. Women’s expression of themselves started to be seen through their thinking about the identity problem and their performances based on tendencies like feminist riot. For the artists of this movement who had been questioning the modernist tradition, not only their performances but also the printed texts that they had created, published and transmitted to the public, concerts and shows became an instrument These kind of formations prepare the ground for women artists to express themselves in the future Until then, woman’s scope had been limited to the home, whilst the public sphere has always existed as man s. Thus, in the practice of life and art, there is a clear connection between the representation of women in the public sphere and the examples we will mention. The works that are positioned in public area of these artists who reflect their “motherhood” and “womanhood” to their arts also show the traces of these identities.
