Abstract :
Mankind, in systematized structures of social and cultural characteristics, has been working to deal with the problem of violence for thousands of years which is the largest conflict in the history of civilization. Compared to traditional social structures violence in modern and contemporary societies stands out as a phenomenon that is increasingly diversifying and encompassing all areas of human life. Since the beginning of its history along with its characteristics of enacting and communication, art of theatre takes on a social, moral and aesthetic function in making violence visible and in questioning it. This article aims to provide an overview of violence in theatre texts and its changing nature in modern and post-modern societies in comparison to traditional society structures.
