Abstract :
Opera, (or firstly well known as dramma per musica) is one of the composite and integrated forms in performing arts. Here libretto along with the musical texture are creating the backbone of the genre, all its components like poetry and music as so as gestures, dance movements, costumes and decor creates the most explicit example of the composite arts. In this study the art of opera, was handled on the basis of a structural and fictional change undergone through the long period of historical, political and sociocultural developments. In this context, G. Rossini s opera Il Turco in Italia” staged by ANTDOB at the 2014-15 art season, was tried to be discussed within the framework of ethno-cultural identity appearance in the contemporary adaptations. In particular paper is focusing on Selim (Selim Pasha) or the character of “Il Turco” and on the other side the opera libretto, classical and contemporary scene adaptations and interpretations of some important components as ethno-cultural identity, codes and reflections are discussed in terms of differences. Considering the wide and in many ways diverse audience that the performing arts reach, the importance of the artistic interpretation is emphasized.
