Abstract :
The contributions to art and culture of private institutions which organize art events have had a significant effect on the common-public education of art of Printmaking.Printmaking activities in Turkey have tried to undertake a particular mission for recent years. One of the most influential competitive exhibitions in Turkey that have been sustained for a limited time is Viking Awarded Printmaking Exhibition. These competitive exhibitions and their sub-components are cruical in understanding the position of Printmaking in contemporary art and art activities. The most meaningful indication that these competitions have a major contribution to art and the artist is that recent prominent artists of Turkish art have jury duties in these competitions and also many artists who could be labelled as masters of the art have attended and won prizes.Today, it has been considered important in art-society-culture relationship that an event with a similar format would have a contribution in getting the attention of young artists to the field, that these would create a public interest and that it would make possible to observe the place of the art from these competitions.
