Abstract :
Today, arts organizations are organized in many different branches by arts institutions. Financial sense to organize arts organizations such as festivals, art fairs, biennials and exhibitions, requires large budgets. Arts institutions are mostly nonprofit organizations; therefore it is necessary to find financial support in order to achieve any organization. Governments could support arts organizations in different scales in accordance with their culture and arts policies. However, only government support is inadequate and organizations are required to be supported by the private sector.Examining the arts sponsorship activities of institutions and organizations in this capitalist world order, where the art has been reduced to a commodity, this study analyzes the advantages and disadvantages that the aforementioned sponsorship activities bring to the arts organizations. Within the scope of this study, the historical development of the concept of sponsorship, in what way the arts sponsorship is realized, the benefits the sponsors gain from the activities they supported, and the sponsorship needs of the arts organizations are examined. As one of the most important arts organizations in our country, which is also recognized by international artistic platforms, the Istanbul Biennial has been chosen as the case study of this research and analyzed.
