Abstract :
This research was carried out in the experimental field of the Department of Field Crops, Faculty of Agriculture, Ankara University between 2006 and 2008 in order to determine the effects of various cycocel doses and application times on yield, yield components and grain protein content of chickpea. Chickpea cultivar, Gökçe was used in the study and 0, 250, 500, 750 and 1000 ppm cycocel doses were applied at three different growth stages that were 4-5 leaves stage, beginning of flowering and grain filling. Both the data of two years were separately evaluated statistically in the study. According to the results; significant differences were determined with the application of various cycocel doses and application times on chickpea in regard to yield, yield components and protein content. Cycocel positively affected grain yield and the greatest values were obtained from the application of cycocel at beginning of flowering with 1000 ppm cycocel dose. The yield components of chickpea were affected from the cycocel applications in different ways, and the increase of cycocel doses positively affected some traits whereas they negatively affected some of them. Grain protein content changed depending on years and, the high grain protein contents were generally determined with the low cycocel doses.
