Abstract :
In this study, the effects of different plumage colors on the egg quality characteristics in Japanese quail were studied. Egg quality characteristics used in the study consist of variable such as shape index, albumen index, yellow index, yolk weight, albumen weight, albumen height, Haugh unit and shell thickness. In the experiment, 247 quails having four different plumage colors (white, dark brown, yellow and original) were used. The study was continued for 4 weeks. At the end of the study, plumage color had significant effect on shape index (P 0.05), albumen index, there were yellow index, yolk weight and albumen weight on features (P 0.01). In the shape index differences between were significant yellow and original colored quail (P 0.05). In the white index, differences were important among white-dark-brown, white-yellow, white-original, original dark brown-and yellow-original colored quails (P 0.01). In yellow index, differences was important among white-yellow, white-original, dark brown-yellow and dark brown-original color quails (P 0.01). In yellow weighs, differences between were important whiteoriginal, original dark brown-and yellow-original colored quail (P 0.01). In albumen weighs, differences were significant among white-original, dark brown-yellow, dark brown-original and yellow-original colored quail (P 0.01). According to plumage color, there were no significant difference between albumen height, haugh unit and shell thickness values. As a result, it is seen thategg quality characteristics of the original plumage color has much greater impact.
