THE RELATIONSHIP OF SHAMANISM AND PLAY AMONG THE TURKISH PUBLICS
Abstract :
Today Shamanism is defined not as a religion, but as a belief technique, which is the most important one among the spiritual hold desires that set the Turks rites. The reason for using the term as shaman is related with the Turks living as hunting wanderers and their different perceptions of life compared to the communities engaged in agriculture. Shaman s action is show-oriented.. Being consciousn of being watched, Shaman has a tendency to exhibit “himself” different from the processional rituals. Shamanism carried animal myths, acrobatic skills and the initiation rites, from Central Asia to Anatolia; which has has been a very long process. The decisiveness of these rituals on Heterodoksias in Islamic understanding is similar to the decisiveness of totemism and animism of Shamanism. In addition to being a typical structure for the pre-Islamic polytheist and mystical religions, these shows indicate loyalty to past lives when the Anatolian peasants recognized Islam. In this sense, the relationship of Shaman with the theater can be defined as “institutionalized” in the Turkish communities. Shaman s show includes theatrical elements in essence. This study aims to make clear of the general points of this theatrical relationship and to demonstrate how the Turks made them live before and after the periods of accepting Islam.
