  • Abstract
The most important characteristic of Italian religious or civil architectures is the entrance gate. Lion head knobs, carefully protected, have continued to be the voice and ornament of the doors from past to present. Lion head knobs, one of the important parts of Italian culture, should symbolize the guardian power and strength. Lion’s manes on the knobs, which were frontally described, have been prominently expressed, and vertical ears are located among the manes. The upper lip, chin and ocular sides on the face are fat. The circles in the lion’s mouth are used as knobs. In the studied examples, there generally seems a lion’s inherent stern face and a strong look.
