Development of Greek and Roman Gravestones

The developments of gravestones appeared in the 10th century B.C. especially in Greek and Roman cultures have been evaluated in this study. Changes and developments with their short historical progress in the gravestones within this period have been analyzed with the help of certain examples. In this respect, the general structure of steles, the figures processed on them and the reasons of their construction in particular have been analyzed. The effects of the regions becoming prominent due to various reasons and their significance in the chronology of Greek and Roman sculpture have been examined.
