Abstract :

In this study titled “Flipbook”, the development of flipbooks within the historical process has been handled in association with other disciplines and the issue has tried to be clarified. As there is a limited number of Turkish resources on flipbooks due to the failure of conducting sufficient studies in our country; the issue has been handled by using the articles, books being published abroad, as well as the information on web sites. Examining the development of flipbooks in Western countries; it is observed to be related with the invention of printery,cinema and animation, as well as developments in these areas. The failure of spreading flipbooks in our country could be associated with the fact that printery had come to our country later and we fall behind the World and Western countries in terms of animations. Although our country produces successful work in the area of cinema, this success does not appear in flipbooks. The fact that researches and experiments that were performed in Western countries in years when the cinema was invented were not performed in our country could be evaluated as the reason of the lack of interaction between cinema and flipbooks. As our country lacks studies on flipbooks, we have needed to conduct such a study for the purpose of guiding designers and academicians in future studies.
