Abstract :
In this study, it was aimed at determining the problems experienced by middle school teachers in the students in adolescence period and solution strategies towards these problems. The data of the research have been collected by using the status study pattern, which is among the qualitative data collection techniques. The study group of the research comprises 43 teachers, of which 20 are women and 23 are men, who are working in public schools affiliated to MEB in 9 middle schools in provincial center of Sivas in the spring period of 2016 – 2017 educational year. In the analysis of data, frequency analysis and content analysis techniques were used. Among the leading adolescence problems which the teachers frequently encounter in students in the school environment are engaging in contradictory behaviors, lack of communication, peer victimization, lack of interest in courses, concern of being accepted, rejecting the teacher authority, and disrespect. It was determined that, in resolving the problem situations which they experience in their students, the teachers use the solution strategies such as interview with the students, behaving authoritatively, preaching, arranging the teaching place, cooperating with other colleagues in the school, the school management and the parents etc. The teachers indicated that the problems they experience with the students in the adolescence period damage them physically and mentally, cause them feel insufficient and lead them to dislike the profession, and experience a continuous conditions of stress It was determined that they generally cooperated in solving the problems of managers and teachers in the schools, however that the parents were mostly insensitive towards the problems their children experience and they did not collaborate with the school.
