Abstract
The aim of this article is to investigate the effects causing increase and decrease in national savings of Turkiye and to reveal its effects to economic growth. The results of this paper are; domestic saving rate of Turkiye is low in comparison with international standarts. Due to domestic savings are not capable of meeting domestic investments there has been a tendency to foreign savings. National savings fell into the level of % 12.7 of GDP in 2010. Although there has been a relative recovery in official savings in recent years, there are severe decreases in total private savings. Some econometric researches showed that national saving rates have a positive effect on sustainable growth in both short and long run.
