THE POLITICAL INITIATIVE OF THE EUROPEAN UNION TOWARDS NEIGHBOURING REGIONS: EUROPEAN NEIGHBOUROOD POLICY

After the Cold War, European Union(EU) has concentrated on two fundamental policies: Political Integration and Expansion. Consequently, EU has both followed a strict integration policy and started having neighbouring borders to new regions. Particularly with the accession of 12 new members in 2004 and 2007, EU has mainly completed the east part of the expansion. However, the new neighbouring regions keep both opportunities and dangers for EU. Eroupean Neighbourhood Policy has been developed for evaluating the opportunities and minimizing the dangers. The following study is analyzing the political, economic and security policies that EU has developed.
